This beautiful 18th century bastide is situated in the charming hillside of Chateauneuf, next to Valbonne. This holiday villa has been carefully restored into a contemporary farmhouse while still maintaining its original charm and cultural history. This manor was owned by Simone Beck, a close friend of Julia Child and M.F.K Fischer. Julia Child was a regular guest at the property where she and Simone hosted many gatherings together. It was times spent at this bastide that prompted Julia to buy her own villa in the South of France, which happened to be the property just next door.
Today the villa offers 5 bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, a professional kitchen, a heated infinity pool, a summer kitchen and pétanque court. Nestled on a terraced hillside, the home is set on 3 hectares of land in the scenic countryside only minutes from some of the region’s most picturesque villages – Valbonne, Mougins, Opio, and Grasse – you’ll quickly discover why Julia Child decided to call this place home!
This Provençal stone villa offers a peaceful and luxurious setting with beautiful views over rolling hills, the village of Plascassier and the olive tree groves surrounding the property. The bastide has an open living plan featuring a large living and dining area with a wood-burning fireplace, a separate TV lounge room, and a professional kitchen that is the center piece of the home with its beautiful fusion of wood and iron.
In addition, there are various outdoor lounge areas for relaxation and entertainment. This luxury villa was designed and furnished by a talented architect who was able to create the perfect blend between old and new. The interior spaces are bright with natural sunlight and are nicely decorated with comfortable and elegant Provençal furniture along with some eclectic pieces that add to the vibrancy and depth of the home.
With the kitchen, living, and dining areas opening onto various terraces, this luxurious retreat really allows guests to live both indoors and outdoors. The terrace off the kitchen is shaded by a lovely pergola and is a wonderful area for al-fresco dining both night and day. This property is ideal as a peaceful retreat yet allows you to have the close proximity to excellent open air markets, 10 different golf courses, and the sandy beaches of Cannes and Antibes, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
