Best inventive menu: Le Comptoir des Alpes

Le Comptoir des Alpes is a fantastic restaurant that takes pride in serving beautiful, colourful plates of food. They use their black board to inform diners of their ever-changing flavours. It’s a spot for both lunch and dinner, with reasonable one, two and three course options to choose from. This is fresh, local dining taken to the next level.

Best mountain hut dining: La Bergerie de Planpraz

La Bergerie de Planpraz elevates traditional mountain dining – located just off the slopes and coated in beautiful wood décor it has the ambience of authenticity and modernity at the same time. Their menu mimics this merge, serving a fantastic mix of wood fired grilled meats and fish, a vegan menu and creative daily specials based on fresh and seasonal produce.

Best family style dining: Bighorn Bistro

Bighorn Bistro is a wonderful example of the varied cuisine found in Chamonix. This is a warm, family run restaurant specialising in new American cuisine and service. The menu is hearty, wholesome and absolutely delicious. In the morning pop in and secure yourself a warm loaf baked fresh in their bakery, or be assured that your burger buns have been freshly made that morning. Albert 1er is a family run business spanning 5 generations, serving incredible food for over 100 years. It’s a place that is dedicated to celebrating the mountains. Head chef Damien Leveau makes every dish feel like a treasured discovery, helping the restaurant earn it’s Michelin star. If you want to be in awe of your food and be sure to have a special night to remember in both dining and ambience – it’s a must visit.

Best authentic Savoyard dining: La Maison Carrier

At La Maison Carrier you’ll be seated under gorgeous wood panelling of this renovated Savoyard farm. It goes back in time serving dishes made with locally sourced produce on wonderfully old school gingham style cloth. Realise the wonders of the Alpine environment here as you tuck into the local aromatic herbs and edible mountain flowers here.

Best wine and beef bar: Le Comptoir du Vin sur Vin

At Le Comptoir du Vin sur Vin you can enjoy a perfectly cooked steak dinner cooked over an open fire from the comfort of the wine bar. The staff are incredibly well educated on their wines, and each dish they serve is paired with the ideal vino counterpart. The best part? Head next door to La Cave Vin sur Vin and buy your favorite wine from your meal.
