The Méribel food scene is varied and impressive. Méribel does traditional Savoyard dining well – but it does tapas, Italian, Indian spice, pizzas and fine dining just as impressively. There’s even a restaurant dedicated to performing close up magic tricks! We’ve put together our list of top 5 high-altitude dining spots in the Méribel valley – enjoy.
Best overall experience: Clos Bernard
Clos Bernard is just magic. It’s hidden in the trees, accessible from the Altiport run. You can choose to ski in and take the forest path, or if you’re on foot there’s a gorgeous resident horse and carriage waiting to transport you into the fairy tale from the road. Either way you’re guaranteed a special entrance. The magic doesn’t stop there, with heated outdoor seating, mountain hut inspired interior design and delicious dishes – this dining experience is one you’re sure to remember.
Best fine dining: L’Ekrin at Le Kaila
L’Ekrin is a Michelin star dining experience nestled in the heart of Le Kaila hotel in the centre of Méribel centre. Chef Laurent Azoulay is a creative chef and celebrates the changing Savoy seasons through his delicious courses, where much of the produce is sourced from the valley. A special note about L’Ekrin – they pre prepare parts of their menu served at their take away deli. So if you don’t get an opportunity to eat here, you can get a slice of the magic to take home with you.
Best atmosphere: La Fruitière
La Fruitière is the impressive restaurant at La Folie Douce Méribel. With 360 panoramic views and live shows every day starting from lunch there’s not a dull moment to be had here. If you’re a big group, try the whole roast chickens to share followed by their unique pudding pyramid. The best part is that once your dishes are cleared the lunch doesn’t have to be over – head straight into the VIP area for one of the wildest après’ in Méribel.
Best décor: Maya Altitude
Maya Altitude is a fresh new mountain side restaurant, located near the top of the Tougnette lift in the Méribel Valley. Its gorgeous interior is both modern, impressive and unique – just check out their room with the terracotta hanging pots from the ceiling and see for yourself. We recommend trying their slow cooked lamb – it’s perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection.
Best dish: Restaurant Le Cèpe
Restaurant Le Cèpe is a mushroom-y delight. The menu is heavily influenced by all types of wonderful mushrooms, with their flagship dish being the mushroom cappuccino. It’s entirely unique and absolutely delicious – a must try if you visit restaurant Le Cèpe. If mushrooms aren’t your favourite, don’t worry there are many alternative options on the menu and the staff are happy to recommend their favourite dishes to you.
