Val D’Isère is an exciting place for the foodies amongst us with an ever-expanding stream of new venues from fine dining to casual mountainside cafes. Explore our recommendations, from cheese lover heaven to steak houses, seafood dining and of course, traditional alpine feasts.

Best traditional Savoyard cheese spot: La Ferme des Trois Capucines

La Ferme des Trois Capucines is an incredibly charming restaurant and actual working farm that produces all of its own dairy produce. Just peep through the window at the back of the restaurant for a sneak peak of the farm in action. If you desire one of the best tartiflettes and raclettes in the resort – you can sample the true joy of alpine fromage at La Ferme des Trois Capucines.

Best mountain side dining spot: Le Panoramic

Le Panoramic is a high-altitude spot nestled on the Grand Motte Glacier with 360 panoramic views of the mountain tops. Our favourite thing about Le Panoramic is they’ll swap your cold ski boots for warm slippers when you arrive, so you can really relax into ultimate comfort during your lunch. The decor is spectacular and the menu matches. Try the heroes of the menu – the mouth-watering cote du bœuf or suckling pork shoulder for a meaty feast.

Best spot for meat lovers: Niurou steakhouse

Niurou steakhouse in Tignes is covered head to toe in gorgeous wood decor, making the space feel cosy, warm and inviting – you may never want to leave, particularly with the delicious smells coming from the kitchen. Just ask the owner Debi for a wine recommendation – she’ll pair it perfectly with your menu choice.

Best cosy, alpine mountain side lunch: La Peau De Vache

Visiting the wonderfully alpine La Peau De Vache feels like walking into the living room of a best friend. It’s covered in candles and old frames, paying homage to the history of the location. This restaurant feels multi-dimensional, as when you dine outside you’re suddenly bathed in sunshine, allowing you to enjoy a delicious Fois Gras whilst you take in the sprawling views that overlook the whole valley.

Best for seafood dining: Kaya

Restaurant Kaya is a new and unique venue that has quickly become the place to be on the front de neige in Tignes Le Lac. The seafood menu is entirely inspired by local influences – just take their delicious scallop raviolis marinated in a local fermented honey as an example. Kaya is a destination for all occasions, and the ideal choice if you’re after a special cocktail or two.

Best hidden gem in Tignes: Mendikoa

Mendikoa is quirky Savoyard dining with a creative modern twist yet the restaurant itself is cosy and casual; you’ll feel instantly at home here. The menu is a blend of traditional dishes but served with delicate and often colourful finishing touches – see for yourself and sample the colourful octopus carpaccio.
