The French Riviera is known for its glamorous party scene and hedonistic summers. With a vast number of clubs to choose from, we narrowed down our top picks. These are our 7 recommendations for the best nightclubs from Monaco to St. Tropez.
Baoli, Cannes
Baoli is the most exclusive club in Cannes, situated on the Port Pierre Canto. Celebrities frequent the place and it’s where you’d be seen when your film wins an award at the Film Festival. The club offers a tropical exotic ambiance with restaurant, bar and club. Guests enter through large wooden Balinese doors and the Buddha vibe is echoed throughout the venue. There is a large outdoor terrace complete with palm trees and a water feature. The club goes from velvety and relaxed to upscale wild when the dancing starts at around 12am.
VIP Room Cannes, Cannes
The VIP Room in Cannes is a pop-up nightclub during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival which is held at the JW Marriott. Now in its 19th year, VIP Room Cannes will bring the party to town and host some of the world’s most famous names and faces. Dress to impress and be sure to make reservations in advance.
Jimmy’z, Monaco
Jimmy’z is arguably the iconic club of Monaco. For more than 40 years, this legendary club has attracted celebrities thanks to its outstanding setting, electric atmosphere and cutting-edge programming. Some of the hottest names in electronic dance music have hit the club’s turntables. After a complete makeover in 2017, it’s more popular than ever. The lush garden is what makes the venue so enchanting; circular canopies of glass are suspended over open air seating and the floating summer bar is set on its own lagoon. As the sun goes does, the music is turned up and the whole club is bathed in a reddish glow.
Twiga, Monaco
Twiga Monte Carlo opened in May 2018 and now occupies the second floor of the Grimaldi Forum offering uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean. Restaurant, lounge, and shisha bar by day (well, until 1am) and exclusive club by night. Twiga is the only club on the Riviera that you can access directly by boat – it has its own jetty and a fantastic seaside terrace. During the Grand Prix, it hosts “beach parties” every evening with the likes of Bob Sinclair at the turntables.
Les Caves du Roy, Saint-Tropez
The Byblos hotel has been an institution in St. Tropez since it opened 50 years ago. Brigitte Bardot, Cher, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood and Mick Jagger are just some of the celebrities who have graced the hotel. Les Caves du Roy is the bar and club of the prestigious Byblos hotel and remains the place to be seen. With resident DJs and magnum bottles of champagne making their way through the crowd, it’s worth the budget for an impressive night you’ll never forget.
VIP Room St. Tropez, Saint-Tropez
The VIP Room is another institution in the small fisherman’s village of St. Tropez. This star-studded nightclub was once described by Karl Lagerfeld as “the best club in the world”. This swanky hotspot is a regular on Best Global Bars lists and can be difficult to get into without a reservation.
L’Opéra, Saint-Tropez
L’Opéra is a restaurant, lounge and club with a scenic terrace overlooking the yachts in the port. Since its opening in 2014, it’s become a favorite hot spot for luxurious and extravagant parties in St. Tropez. L’Opéra features flame throwers, outstanding dancers and artists who perform one after the other on the central podium tables, transporting you to another world.
