Megève is famous for its skiing, stunning mountain views, excellent restaurants and shops but there are many more wonderful activities available in this beautiful resort town. The following are just some of the options for individuals or the whole family that can be enjoyed in Megève.

Reindeer farm visit

Whether it’s Christmas or any other time of the year, be sure to visit the Reindeer Farm and Sheepfold at Domaine Le Coulairon. A herd of Swedish reindeer have lived and thrived in the huge forest park here for ten years. Guests can walk among the reindeer, learn all about their habits and feed them lichen. There is also a sheepfold full of babies and their moms. The babies are very affectionate and love attention so come prepared to cuddle and laugh at their antics.

Hot air balloon ride

Another thrilling possibility is taking a hot air balloon ride above the beautiful landscape of Megève and the French Alps. Visit Alpes Montgolfière in the Val d’Arly to take advantage of a soaring adventure that carries you up and across the faces of the Mont-Blanc range, Aravis, Beaufortain, Fizs, Bauges, and the Swiss and Italian Alps. The flight lasts between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the weather. Champagne greets you when you land.

Dog sledding

If you prefer your adventures closer to the ground, check out dog sledding at Mont de Villard Nord. Located in a stunning setting facing Mont Blanc this hamlet gives you the opportunity to enjoy the exhilaration and tranquility of sledding with a pack of friendly dogs across the snowy landscape. The two and a half hour experience is divided into an initial phase where you learn the basics of how to guide the sled followed by a ride with a musher behind high performance dogs.

Airplane flight over Mont Blanc

Prefer a plane to a balloon, then visit Aérocime in Megève and take flight over Mont Blanc and the valleys of Megève and Chamonix. The flights require a minimum of two full fares (2 adults or 1 adult and 2 children) and a maximum of three to four people. A panoramic canopy gives guests a great opportunity to take photos.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to ride a bobsled, then you should try Sledge 4S. Based at the bottom of the Jaillet gondolas and just a five minute walk from the Palais des Sports, the sled is on rails instead of ice. Being able to accelerate up to 36 km/h, it offers both adults and children an unforgettable experience.
